SUMMARY:A Responsible Budget Requires Fair Taxes – Press Conference and Lobby Day
DESCRIPTION:PA State Capitol Complex – Rotunda \n11–11:30 Press Conference  \nAs the General Assembly heads deeper into budget season and the middle of tax season\, we invite you to join us for a press conference and advocacy day highlighting the need for tax justice and a responsible state budget that works for all Pennsylvanians! \nThis event will bring together legislators and partners from across Pennsylvania who believe that a responsible budget requires fair taxes and that the investments Pennsylvanians rely on — from education to health care to transit — depend on getting our revenue system right. \nThe press conference will be held in the main rotunda at 11am. \nWe’re fighting for revenue solutions that fund our communities and ensure Pennsylvania meets its budget challenges with fair taxes\, not more cuts.

SUMMARY:"Pennsylvanians Together: For Our Common Wealth" Campaign Kickoff
DESCRIPTION:FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE \nCONTACT: Kirstin Snow\, Communications Director\, snow@pennpolicy.org \n MEDIA ADVISORY: Tuesday\, 1/27\, 12:00 PM – NEW CAMPAIGN  LAUNCH – FOR OUR COMMON WEALTH\nHarrisburg\, PA— On Tuesday\, January 27\, at 12:00 PM\, the Pennsylvania Policy Center (PPC) will hold a virtual press conference to launch Pennsylvanians Together: For Our Common Wealth\, a new statewide campaign calling on elected officials to commit to demanding a Pennsylvania budget that works for everyday people—not just the ultra-wealthy and big corporations. \nAs the Commonwealth faces a major budget shortfall\, this campaign is demanding real solutions.  Speakers will highlight the urgent need to raise new revenue by requiring the wealthiest individuals and profitable corporations to pay their fair share\, rather than forcing harmful cuts to schools\, health care\, transit\, and other essential services. \nThe event will be lead by PPC’s new Executive Director and Campaign Chair\, Felicity A. Williams\, alongside community leaders\, advocates\, and impacted Pennsylvanians from across the state.  Together\, they will underscore a simple truth: real livability comes from investing in what keeps communities stable and strong. \nThe campaign calls on lawmakers to publicly commit to revenue solutions that protect basic needs like housing\, education\, public infrastructure\, and environmental protections—so Pennsylvanians can thrive\, not just survive. \nEVENT DETAILS \nWHAT: Campaign Kick Off Press Conference- Pennsylvanians Together: For Our Common Wealth \nWHEN: Tuesday\, January 27 2026\, at 12:00 PM EST \nWHERE: ON ZOOM (register here) \nWHO: \nFelicity A. Williams\, Executive Director\, Pennsylvania Policy Center \nCharlotte Bruce\, Children’s HealthWatch \nRep. Nikki Rivera\, PA HD96 \nConnor Descheemaker\, Transit For All PA \nDwayne Heisler\, Campaign Director\, Pennsylvanians Together \nAdditional speakers to be announced. \nCutting education\, healthcare\, transit\, and safety-net programs doesn’t fix our budget—it makes everyday life harder for workers\, seniors\, and families trying to get ahead. Meanwhile\, the richest 1% in Pennsylvania pay taxes at half the rate of everyone else. Asking those who can most afford it to pay their fair share would allow the Commonwealth to invest in communities where everyone has a real chance to thrive. \nPennsylvanians deserve to thrive\, not just survive. It’s time to come together\, for our common wealth. \n### \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Health Care Shutdown Press Conference at the PA Capitol
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe press conference will be held in the Capitol Media Center\, Room 01 East Wing. \nAs open enrollment approaches on November 1st\, Pennsylvanians are discovering that affordable health care has been shut down. Join advocates\, elected leaders\, and impacted residents to call out the Republican-led expiration of ACA premium subsidies and deep Medicaid cuts driving up costs across our state. \nThis press conference will shine a light on how Pennsylvania families are being priced out of coverage—while the wealthy continue to get tax breaks. \nTogether\, we’ll send a clear message: The shutdown isn’t about politics—it’s about our health care. \nRSVP HERE.

SUMMARY:"Raise the Wage" Liveable Wage Press Conference and Rally
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a press conference/rally to demand a raise of the minimum wage in Pennsylvania with 1Hood*\, Pennsylvanians Together\, PA\, OneFairWage\, SEIU PA\, PA United\, Pennsylvania Policy Center\, AFSCME\, and Keystone Progress on Thursday\, August 29\, at 11a.m.\nPennsylvania has not raised its minimum wage since 2009. Since 2014\, however\, 30 states and Washington\, DC\, have increased their minimum wage\, including every state that borders Pennsylvania. While for 15 years the minimum wage in Pennsylvania has remained stagnant\, the cost of basic necessities like healthcare\, childcare\, housing\, utilities\, and food have all risen.\nFor over a year\, Senator Devlin Robinson\, chair of the Senate Labor and Industry Committee\, has failed to advance minimum wage legislation HB1500\, which passed out of the PA House in 2023. With only a few days left in this legislative session\, it is time to get HB1500 passed out of the PA Senate and to the Governor’s desk. Labor partners\, community advocates\, and local leaders will be united in demanding that Senator Robinson advance this important legislation so we can finally raise the wage.\n*1Hood Power is a social advocacy 501 (c)4 organization committed to building and demonstrating power in western PA’s Black communities.\n\nHave accessibility questions?
