SUMMARY:Fair Share America Rally in Washington\, DC — Say NO to Tax Breaks for Billionaires and Corporations!
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE.\nMore details to come\, please check back!\nFederal Triangle location\, Washington\, DC\nJoin tax justice advocates and constituents from across the country in Washington\, D.C.\, April 10th\, for the Federal Fightback Rally to tell our members of Congress to oppose taking away what millions of working people need—health care\, education\, food assistance\, child care\, and so much more—in order to pay for more tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations.\nMomentum is growing all over the country as Trump\, Musk\, and congressional leadership try to ram through tax breaks for the rich—now it’s time we take this fight to the steps of the Capitol. Your voice is critical to ensure that Members of Congress know that we are watching\, and we won’t stand for it!\nMaking taxes fair isn’t just a tax fight—this fight represents a key choice in the direction of our country. Are we a nation that prioritizes lining the pockets of billionaires and big corporations\, or are we a nation that ensures everyday working Americans get ahead?

SUMMARY:Tax Day Rally Across PA — Philly location
DESCRIPTION:NOON – 2 p.m.\nPHILADELPHIA CITY HALL\n(For other locations\, go HERE.)\nOn April 15\, join national and local organizations to demand billionaires pay their fair share and fight back against the rigged system and Republican attacks on our freedoms and communities.\nPhiladelphians have always and consistently rejected trickle-down economics. We reject the idea that cutting taxes for the rich and wealthy businesses help working people at any level of government. Instead\, we support fair taxes that ask the rich and businesses to pay their fair share of the taxes needed to support the essential services that make our lives better and are the real source of prosperity for all.\n\n\n\nThis Tax Day\, Trump and Congressional Republicans are pushing massive tax breaks for billionaires and corporations\, rigging the system against workers and families. Their budget cuts Medicaid\, food assistance\, and education\, while the wealthiest pay little to nothing. Pennsylvanians already contribute their fair share to fund schools\, roads\, and hospitals\, but Trump’s tax policies make it even more unfair\, forcing working people to pay more while the rich get off easy.

SUMMARY:Cinco de Mayo Solidarity with Immigrants Rally
DESCRIPTION:On May 5th at 11 AM\, we will gather at the Pennsylvania State Capitol to rally for immigrant rights. Together\, we can amplify voices that have been silenced\, fight against injustice\, and show that solidarity is not just a word—it is a force that creates change.\nImmigrants throughout the country are facing some of the worst attacks we’ve ever seen. Right-wing extremists’ goal is mass detention and deportation\, tearing apart families\, attempting to end legal protections like DACA\, gutting asylum rights and actively criminalizing immigrant communities. But instead of backing down\, we must find strength in community. We must not forget that when fear and division are used as tools for governance\, we all lose. Through difficult times\, we must organize with neighbors and allies. We need all of us. RSVP today to join us at the state Capitol!\nTogether we will rally at the state Capitol to denounce the attacks on immigrants’ rights and remind everyone that undocumented people are hard-working people and that everyone deserves respect and dignity\, no matter who they are\, where they were born\, or what language they speak. Since it is Cinco de Mayo\, we are also encouraging attendees to embrace and celebrate immigrants’ cultural diversity by wearing traditional folk attire to celebrate the contributions of immigrants in our communities.\nImmigrants are essential and integral to our community\, and we/they belong unconditionally!\nEspañol:\nEl 5 de mayo a las 11:00 a. m.\, nos reuniremos en las escaleras del Capitolio del Estado de Pensilvania para manifestarnos por los derechos de los inmigrantes. Nós necesitamos a todxs.

SUMMARY:Social Hour with Luzerne County Chapter — Action Together NEPA
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special Luzerne County Chapter Social Hour on Wednesday\, May 21st\, as we focus on what communities do to support each other\, and what we expect our elected representatives to do to have our backs! \nHear from advocates and local faith leaders\, and bring a donation (nonperishable food item or a monetary donation) for a local food bank if you’re able!\nFamilies and communities look out for one another. From our schools and healthcare providers to local organizations\, we all strive to ensure that everyone not only gets by—but has the chance to thrive. That responsibility includes our elected officials.\n\nRight now\, Congress is moving quickly on a reconciliation package that could gut vital safety net programs like Medicaid and SNAP\, shifting the burden to states and local communities. These cuts would endanger families\, strain local budgets\, and jeopardize Pennsylvania’s ability to meet basic needs—all to pay for tax breaks for billionaires.\n\nWe call on Representative Rob Bresnahan to honor his commitment to protect Medicaid and SNAP. The Republican-proposed cuts could strip health care from hundreds of thousands of people in our region and take food off the tables of families across the 8th District—all to benefit the ultra-wealthy.

SUMMARY:Pennsylvanians Together Community Conversation – Bensalem\, PA
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Big Ugly Bill has passed the house and now is the time to make your voice heard. The bill calls for devastating cuts to Medicaid\, SNAP\, and the safety net\, all to pay for tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy. Pennsylvania voters\, like voters in other states\, strongly support these programs\, and with good reason. Medicaid provides critical support for millions of Pennsylvanians.\nThe reconciliation bill will terminate healthcare coverage for around 13 million Americans and kick approximately 3 million Americans off of SNAP. While new requirements for the state to help pay for the SNAP program would result in new expenditures for the state of $226 million to over a billion. The bill does all this harm while adding $2.4 trillion to the federal deficit.\nThis event is open to everyone. Join Pennsylvanians Together and the Pennsylvania Policy Center\, for a real conversation about proposals that could harm Pennsylvanians\, and what we can do about them. We will have experts to discuss what these cuts mean for us and our communities as well as explain what you can do to fight the cuts.

SUMMARY:"Stop the Billionaire Tax Giveaway" Bus Tour - Pennsylvania Stops
DESCRIPTION:Brought to you by Fair Share America and Unrig Our Economy\nThis summer\, we’re hitting the road.\nFrom June 21 to July 14\, the Stop the Billionaire Giveaway Bus Tour is traveling coast to coast to expose how the ultra-wealthy and giant corporations have rigged the tax code—at the expense of working families—and how their new budget bill would make things even worse.\nPENNSYLVANIA STOPS:\n– Philadelphia\, PA – Sunday\, June 22\n– Bucks County\, PA – Sunday\, June 22\n– Bethlehem\, PA – Monday\, June 23\n– Scranton\, PA – Monday\, June 23\n– Harrisburg\, PA – Tuesday\, June 24\n– Pittsburgh\, PA – Tuesday\, June 24\nSign up for email updates here!\nOur message is clear: The big budget bill moving through Congress makes our broken system even worse by ripping away health care and food away from millions while raising prices — all to give billionaires another massive tax break. We’re showing up in towns and cities across the country to shine a light on how tax loopholes\, corporate handouts\, and political power plays are draining resources from health care\, education\, food assistance\, and other essentials that families need.\nWhat to Expect\nAt every stop\, we’re bringing people together through:\n– Town Halls & Community Events\n– Personal Storytelling & Listening Sessions\n– Expert Roundtables & Pledge Card Deliveries\n– Rallies & Canvass Kickoffs\nThese events break down what’s really in the budget bill—and how it raises costs for everyday Americans while letting billionaires and corporations off the hook.\nBut we’re not just talking.\nWe’re organizing.\nYou’ll leave with practical tools and clear steps to take action:\n– Demand tax and economic justice.\n– Hold elected officials accountable.\n– Demand families get to keep their health care and food.\n– Join a growing movement to ensure the wealthy pay their fair share.

SUMMARY:Pennsylvanians Together Community Conversation – Chester\, PA

SUMMARY:Please\, Sir\, May I Live? – Medicaid Visibility Action at Sen. Dave McCormick’s Office
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE.\nJoin SEIU and community partners for a powerful Medicaid visibility action outside Senator Dave McCormick’s Harrisburg office. As billionaires get tax breaks\, working Pennsylvanians are left with crumbs—and cuts to the programs that keep us alive. This action will feature a modern-day soup line to show the human cost of Medicaid cuts and remind Senator McCormick that we are still fighting to survive.\nWe’ll have a short speaking program with union leaders\, parents\, and advocates. Visuals will include pots\, pans\, and bread as symbols of economic desperation—and the dignity of people who continue to show up.

SUMMARY:UPDATED START TIME — THIS BUDGET IS BULLS**T: Rally outside Rob Bresnahan's Scranton Office
DESCRIPTION:UPDATED START TIME: 2 P.M.\nSenator Chris Coons is joining us!\nREGISTER HERE!\nJoin For Our Future PA\, Action Together NEPA\, the Pennsylvania Policy Center\, Pennsylvanians Together\, storytellers from the community\, and Senator Chris Coons at 2 p.m. on July 1st to hear why Congressman Rob Bresnahan’s vote for the TRUMP–GOP big\, bloated\, and ugly bill cannot be tolerated! We’ll be OUTSIDE Rep. Bresnahan’s office located at 116 North Washington Avenue\, Scranton\, Pennsylvania 18503\, where we’ll let him know that his vote for the BBB is shameful and unacceptable!\nIn the coming days\, the Republican-controlled Senate will be considering the House-passed GOP mega-bill from hell. The GOP’s reconciliation bill from the darkest corners of its ambitions passed the House of Representatives in DC in May\, and now the bill is before the Senate for consideration. This bill would negatively impact Medicaid\, SNAP\, and other programs and services in the state that millions of Pennsylvanians rely on!\nPart of the GOP’s scheme with SNAP\, Medicaid\, and other programs is for a cost-sharing requirement with the states. Pennsylvania would find it difficult—if not impossible—to pick up that fiscal slack\, which would undermine these programs—just as the GOP cruelly intends. Not only that\, the legislation intends to bury millions of people in red tape so they can’t get the life-saving services they rely on!\nBring signs\, and bring your friends and family to make your voices heard!\n  \nREGISTER HERE!\nOrganizer: For Our Future PA

DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE.\nThe rich got richer. We got the bill.\nWhile working families in Pennsylvania’s 10th district struggle with rising costs\, housing insecurity\, and cuts to Medicaid and SNAP\, the ultra-rich and big corporations are cashing in—thanks to a tax code that’s been hijacked by billionaires and their allies in Congress. \nThis is what oligarchy looks like.\nScott Perry backed the “Big Ugly” law\, cutting what our communities rely on—while protecting tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans. \nThis isn’t an accident. DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE.\nCongressman Bresnahan is getting married before the year is out—but he’s already broken his promises to the people of this district. \nBy voting for the Big Ugly Bill\, he turned his back on working families—slashing Medicaid and SNAP\, undermining affordable housing\, attacking immigrant communities\, and putting the stability of our local hospitals at risk—all while giving away tax breaks to billionaires and corporations. From Scranton to every corner of the district\, families are feeling the impact. \nThat’s why we’re gathering at the Greenridge Club—a venue known for hosting weddings\, now hosting a very different kind of event. \nFair Share America\, Pennsylvanians Together\, Pennsylvanians Policy Center\, Planned Parenthood PA\, Action Together NEPA\, Commonwealth Communications\, For Our Future\, MomsRising\, and our local partners are hosting this town hall because the system is rigged—and it’s time we start fighting back.Join us for a district-wide town hall where residents\, advocates\, and community leaders will: \n\nExpose the harm caused by the Big Ugly Bill\nHold Congressman Bresnahan accountable\nDemand an economy—and a democracy—that puts families first\n\n  \nREGISTER HERE.\n

SUMMARY:"Death & Taxes" Showing\, Panel Discussion\, and Director Q & A – Lancaster
DESCRIPTION:RSVP HERE\nJoin us for a screening of the new film “Death & Taxes!” This event includes a Q&A with director Justin Schein and a conversation about how budgets and taxes impact our society. We are very excited to bring this film to the Lancaster region and hope you will join us for this showing and the panel discussion to follow.\nYou can register and RSVP here\, and use the included link to purchase your tickets.\nDEATH & TAXES is a feature documentary about wealth\, inequality and the American Dream\, viewed through the lens of the estate tax and the very personal story of a father and son at odds over what kind of inheritance we want to leave our kids and our country.\nHarvey Schein lived a rags-to-riches story that embodies the American Dream as a renowned and successful record company CEO\, known for his brilliance—and his combativeness. Over time he also became obsessed with how to pass on his wealth to his heirs while avoiding taxes. Director Justin Schein turns the camera on his father as a case study in America’s long and problematic history of tax benefits for the wealthy. This timely film deftly interweaves complex family dynamics with American economic policy\, illustrating how the rich stay rich and what it costs our country to keep them that way.\nAs America is in the midst of a bitter fight over the budget and taxes\, we feel “Death & Taxes” is a unique and human way to create a dialogue about wealth inequality and taxation in a healthy democracy.\nDirector: Justin Schein    Run Time: 86 min. Release Year: 2024\n View the trailer: https://vimeo.com/1040511192.

SUMMARY:Vigil for Healthcare: Shut Down Greed\, Not Our Families!
DESCRIPTION:About this event\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFamilies across America are struggling to keep up with rising costs of groceries\, housing\, and utilities. Now\, Trump and Republicans in Congress have made it worse—slashing over $1 trillion from Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act this summer\, sending premiums soaring and threatening coverage for millions. \nThe results are devastating:\n\nUp to 150\,000 residents could lose health coverage next year if Congress fails to extend the tax credits that keep insurance affordable.\nPennie executive director Devon Trolley warns that without these credits\, “costs will rise sharply\, forcing nearly half a million people to choose between their health and their financial security.”\nPremiums for Pennie enrollees would jump about 82% on average. For example\, a family of two paying $178 a month could see their bill climb to $326.\nHospitals and clinics—especially in rural areas—risk closure as more patients are priced out of care.\n\nAnd now\, instead of fixing the damage\, Republicans have chosen to shut down the federal government. Speaker Mike Johnson and Congressman Bresnahan are at the center of this crisis. Bresnahan may claim he supports relief\, but his bill is nothing more than a delay—a Band-Aid over a bullet wound—meant to hide the consequences. \nJoin us for a healthcare vigil to send a clear message:\n✅ Families deserve affordable\, quality healthcare. \n❌ We reject cuts that hike premiums to fund billionaire tax breaks. \n❌ We reject a Republican shutdown that puts essential services and our healthcare at risk. \nTogether\, we’ll hold Speaker Johnson and Congressman Bresnahan accountable for putting politics and billionaires ahead of our health and our lives. \nRSVP HERE!\n\nWhat to bring:\n\nSigns supporting affordable healthcare\nELECTRIC candles (No fire)\nFamily and friends\n\n\nBrought to you by:\nPennsylvanians Together\, Pennsylvania Policy Center\, Action Together NEPA\, For our Future PA\, SEIU Healthcare PA\, and Affordable Pennsylvania
