Friends, August 14th is the 90th anniversary of Social Security—an essential social safety net program in the United States since 1936. But as we've seen with the recent passage of the OBBBA, the social safety net programs SNAP, Medicaid, and Medicare have seen the largest slashes in their funding since their inception. As billionaires get tax breaks, working Pennsylvanians are left with crumbs—and cuts to the programs that keep us alive. This action will feature a modern-day soup line to show the human cost of Medicaid cuts and remind Senator McCormick that we are still fighting to survive. We’ll have a short speaking program with union leaders, parents, and advocates. Visuals will include pots, pans, and bread as symbols of economic desperation—and the dignity of people who continue to show up.
